Born in Florida. Catherine Ireland began to pursue music and dance at an early age. While still in grade school, she excelled at ballet, piano and clarinet and participated in her school orchestra.
During her teenage years, Catherine continued her studies in dance and piano and began lessons in classical voice. Once at the university, Catherine followed a demanding program in both piano and voice, including numerous recitals and scholastic competitions. Catherine’s voice studies included many well-known selections in Italian, German and French.
Following her university studies, Catherine pursued her professional career on an international level. Catherine traveled to Lisbon, Portugal where she impressed audiences with both her poignant, expressive style at church weddings and her sultry, rhythmic performance of jazz standards at local clubs.
Catherine traveled to Austria where she received high praise on her numerous performances. Catherine was enthusiastically received at such major events as the SPO Ball and the HBLA/ANHOF Ball and went on to perform well-known American hits at the Universitaet of Linz.
While in Austria, Catherine drew the attention of a major record producer, Peter Guschelbauer, who invited her to record original songs on his label, SoundDesign. Catherine wrote and recorded an album of her own songs and was interviewed on Austria’s number one radio station.
Catherine was also in high demand back in America for both weddings and club engagements. Most notably, Catherine was under long-term contract at the London Brasserie in Atlanta, Georgia (a restaurant/club owned by ex-Beatle George Harrison).
Catherine was invited back to Austria for a major solo concert at the Apricot Club and additional studio recordings. Shortly thereafter, Catherine moved to Paris, France, where she was very well-received by French audiences who were dazzled by her vocal abilities singing American jazz songs and international standards.
Catherine performed at many well-known clubs such as Le Colisee and Cascades Elysees on the Champs-Elysees, the Savoy Restaurant, Le Petit Journal Club, Les Bonchons Jazz Club, the Big Ben Piano Bar, the Hotel Meridian and Les Jardins d’Hollywood. Catherine also traveled to Austria to work on additional original recordings and radio interviews. One of Catherine’s original compositions, “Our Love,” was featured on a compilation CD for the MIDEM in Cannes, France.
Catherine relocated to California where she was a featured performer at the 32nd Street Officer’s Club in San Diego. In addition to her musical pursuits, Catherine pursued acting classes with Barry Stewart Mann and she began receiving offers to perform in movies and television films.
Catherine worked in Hollywood on the film White Men Can’t Jump, which starred Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes, and was invited to perform in a featured role in the hit movie A Few Good Men, starring Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, and Keifer Sutherland. Additionally, Catherine was a featured actress on the last film of Anthony Perkins (Alfred Hitchcock film, “Psycho,” fame). The film was entitled In the Deep Woods and starred Rosanna Arquette.
Catherine also had several roles on various episodes of the American television series Silk Stalkings and was featured in a Sheiseido cosmetics commercial, filmed in California, for use in the Japanese market.
While in California, Catherine was flown to Seoul, Korea for a two-week engagement at the famous jazz club JJ Mahoney's in the Hyatt Hotel. Catherine had the opportunity to share the stage with the accomplished American jazz saxophonist, Kenny Garrett, who previously worked with Duke Ellington and Miles Davis.
Continuing her musical career on a global scale, Catherine was under long term contract with the Princess Cruise Line. Her band, the Catherine Ireland Trio, received high praise from passengers who enjoyed dancing and listening to the trio’s outstanding musical performances. Her cruise ship travels included America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Colombia, Panama and Canada.
Catherine moved to New York City where she pursued further studies in dance and voice. She was a private student of Andy Anselmo at the Singer’s Forum (Bel Canto Method). Mr. Anselmo is best known for coaching stars such as Eartha Kitt, Mandy Patinkin, Tony Bennett, Brooke Shields and Liza Minelli.
Subsequently, Catherine returned to Europe where she performed at a formal ball in Bologna, Italy sponsored by The Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University. She was also invited to sing at several jazz clubs in Vienna, Austria.
Following a move to Washington, D.C., Catherine focused on developing her interest in dance. Catherine studied ballet, pointe and jazz at the Black Rock Center for the Arts where she had the opportunity to participate in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and other ballet and jazz performances (including several solo performances).
Catherine is currently based out of Montreal, Canada where she passed the pre-audition levels for the Quebec television program, La Voix (The Voice). Catherine has performed regularly at the Singer’s Jam Session at the jazz club Diese Onze and recently returned from Europe where she was interviewed on television and radio regarding her original music.
Catherine’s releases, including "Windmills of Your Mind", "They're Just Fooling Themselves", "Moment With You", "Body and Soul", “Follow Your Heart Again”, "Our Love" and "Promise", and videos have already generated much enthusiasm among her fans.
As a result of her many years of professional performing experience and her ability to sing in multiple languages, Catherine is a versatile entertainer who is adaptable to all audiences. She is a first-class international vocalist with a provocative and engaging style who delights audiences worldwide.
